Welch, Oklahoma Lose in Big 12 Match Play Championship
Patrick Welch and his University of Oklahoma Sooners lost to Texas Tech in the Big 12 Match Play Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Houston Oaks.
Welch and the Sooners dominated every other opponent, including Oklahoma State, before falling to Tech in the title match.
Welch lost to Jack Wall 4&3 in the final match, while Tech beat the Sooners 3-2-1.
Prior to the match with Wall, Welch was undefeated in the tournament.

Starting on the second hole, Welch took a 1-up lead with a birdie on the third hole.
Wall came back and tied it with a birdie of his won on the fifth hole, while Welch made par.
Welch then took a one-up lead again on the seventh hole with a birdie and would take that lead into the back nine.
However, Wall tied the match on the tenth hole and then was up three by the time they got to 15.
The match was closed out on the 16th hole as Wall went four-up.
