Work Underway on Kirkbrae’s 17th Hole

Work is underway on the par-3 17th hole at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln.

The hole is being redesigned by golf course architect Mark Mungeam and is expected to be done in about a month.

As of Thursday evening, the green was removed and work is getting started.

It will be closed for the remainder of the season and “hopefully” be ready for the spring.

This is the latest project in a series of golf course projects that Kirkbrae has undertaken over the last several years.

Previous projects include a revamp of the 18th green, seventh green, 12th green, 13th green, a clubhouse revamp and the 9th green among others.

Kirkbrae has hosted a U.S. Open qualifier and the Rhode Island Amateur in each of the last two years.

The hole revamp will consist of removing the bunkers on the left side of the green (looking from the tee), and adding two bunkers on the right side.

The green itself is going to be flattened out, allowing for more pin placements and shot making opportunities.
