Mike Hamilton, Matt Montt Win Gilholm Cup
Kirkbrae’s Mike Hamilton teamed with Plymouth Country Club’s Matt Montt to win the Gilholm Cup on Sunday afternoon at the Country Club of New Bedford.
Hamilton and Montt posted a two round score of nine-under par to win by two shots over Walter Baptiste and Curtis Merritt.
“We really got it going today (Sunday) and then just hung on late. Great golf course and that staff and tournament is top notch,” Hamilton told GolfNewsRI.
Gilholm Cup defending champions Paul Quigley and Kevin Blaser finished in sixth place.
Big Year for Hamilton
The Gilholm Cup victory adds to what has already been a big year for Hamilton.
He finished runner up in the Rhode Island Amateur, suffering a heartbreaking loss on the 18th green after battling back from three down.
However, he bounced back with a win in the Rhode Island Stroke Play Championship, and then won the Kirkbrae Club Championship.
Hamilton also led Kirkbrae to a Ryder Cup victory over Alpine earlier this month.
