Uihlein Shoots 66, Sits in 3rd Heading into Final Round of LIV Golf Chicago

Playing at a familiar course, former Northeast Amateur champion, and Massachusetts native, Peter Uihlein posted a second round 66 and sits in solo third heading into Sunday’s final round at LIV Golf Chicago Invitational at Rich Harvest Farms.

The 2011 Northeast Amateur Champion played Rich Harvest Farms back in 2004 during an AJGA event.

“I’ll tell you what, it’s a lot wider than I remember. There used to be a lot of trees out there. It was pretty nasty. It’s a little bit more generous off the tee than what I remember. There used to be an AstroTurf tee on one of those holes. I think we’re playing it the 4th hole, but I think that hole used to have an AstroTurf tee. But now I guess they’ve removed some trees so grass can actually grow,” said Uihlein after the round.

Uihlein will now be in the final pairing on Sunday alongside golf superstars Dustin Johnson and Cam Smith.

“Obviously, Cam’s the reigning Open champion playing unbelievable golf. DJ won last week,” Uihlein said. “They’re both unbelievable players playing great. Should be fun.”

Uihlein’s 66 was the lowest round of the day at the tournament.

The 66 helped his team, Smash GC to get into third place and just a shot out of second.

Smith has a two shot lead over Johnson and a three shot lead over Uihlein heading into the final round.

Johnson’s 4 Aces GC are clinging to a one shot lead, seeking their fourth win in a row.
