URI in 2nd After Opening Day of VCU Shootout
The University of Rhode Island golf team is in second place, and just two shots back after the opening day of the VCU Shootout at CCV Tuckahoe Creek Course in Virgina.
The Rams are 26-under as a team, two shots behind first place VCU with 18 holes left to play.
This is Rhode Island’s second tournament of the season.
Leading Rhody
The Rams were led by Brandon Gillis, who fired a four-under par 68 during the second 18.
The 68 backs up his first round score of 67.
Gillis is in a tie for third and just two shots off the solo lead.
Following Gillis is Chuck Tragesser, who is six-under for the tournament following rounds of 70 and 68.
Tragesser is in a tie for 13th, along with freshman Aidan O’Donovan.
O’Donovan posted an opening round of 67 and followed up with a 71 in the second round.
