Vinny Papa Competing in Notah Begay III Jr. Golf National Championship
Rhode Island’s Vinny Papa is in Mississippi this weekend competing in the regional qualifier for the Notah Begay III Jr. Golf National Championship.
Playing in the girls 12-13 age group, Papa fired a three-under 69 on Saturday and leads the division by seven shots with one round left to go.
There is only one qualifying spot available.
The tournament is being held at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Mississippi.
The Notah Begay III Girls Golf National Championship will be held from November 3-5 at Kaasati Pines in Louisiana.
Papa’s Round
Papa opened the round with a par on the first hole, before dropping birdies on the second and fifth holes to get to two-under.
She took a step backwards on the eighth hole when she made a bogey to turn at 35.
On the backside, Papa saved par on the tenth and 11th holes, then added two birdies on the 12th and 13th holes to get to three under for the day.
She parred out to shoot 69.
