The bid to operate and manage Triggs Memorial Golf Course opens on Monday.

The City of Providence has posted the bid, with the Request for Proposal (RFP) on its website.

“The Providence Parks Department (Parks) seeks a highly qualified Golf Management Company (Operator) to lease Triggs Memorial Golf Course beginning January 1,2023 for 10 years with a possibility of extending the lease for another 10 years based upon the success of the operation as determined by Parks,” the City of Providence writes in the RFP.

The projected takeover date for any new potential lessee will be January 1, 2023.

Triggs has been operated and managed by FCG Associates since 1990, according to the City of Providence website.

“Since taking over the management of Triggs in 1990, FCG Associates has invested in substantial capital improvements, including irrigation, cart paths, restored bunkers, and a driving range,” writes the City on their website.

The new RFP calls on the operator to make approximately $1 million in fixes to the property, and that is just at minimum.

Sources tell GolfNewsRI that multiple bids are expected to be made for the famous Donald Ross Course.

According to the RFP, bids may be submitted up to 2:15 p.m. on September 12.

All bids will be public record, almost immediately.

Triggs is one of the 4-5 most famous courses in Rhode Island and has received national attention on a yearly basis.

Over the last several years, it has hosted the World Series of Junior Golf, the Providence Open and this year it hosted the Rhode Island Mid-Amateur.
