Francoeur Eliminated from U.S. Amateur in Round of 32
Former University of Rhode Island star Chris Francoeur was eliminated from the U.S. Amateur on Thursday morning at Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey.
Francoeur lost to Pennsylvania’s Nick Gross 3&2 to fall out of the tournament.
He will now shift his focus to next week’s Korn Ferry Tour Q School Pre-Qualifying at Highlands Golf Course.
If he gets through that, he will go to regular Korn Ferry Tour Q-School.
Francoeur Comes up Short
After losing the first hole of the match, Francoeur won the next two and took a one-up lead
Gross bounced back and won the fourth hole, then won the eighth hole to take his own one-up lead.
Gross won the tenth hole to go two up, before Francoeur cut into the lead with a win on 13.
However, Gross won 4 and closed the match out on 16 to win 3&2.
