Vinny Papa, Morgan MacLeod Playing Northern Junior in CT

Rhode Island’s Vinny Papa and Morgan MacLeod are headed to Connecticut to play in the Northern Junior Amateur at Great River Golf Club. 

The tournament starts on Tuesday and runs through Wednesday. 

The Northern Junior features top junior players from all over the world, including Hong Kong, China, Mexico, Japan and obviously the U.S.

Papa and MacLeod are the only two Rhode Islanders in the field after others withdrew to play in the Rhode Island Junior Amateur. 

MacLeod is coming off a runner up finish at the Rhode Island Women’s Amateur on Friday, Papa is also coming off the Women’s Amateur where she lost in the second round. 

Papa tees off at 9:50 a.m. and MacLeod tees off at 10:10 a.m.

The Northern Junior Championship is a nationally ranked junior golf tournament that was created in order to provide the highest level of competition for top junior players. 

The 36-hole stroke play event is contested over two days at Great River Golf Club in Milford, Connecticut and is open to amateur boys and girls under the age of 19 who have not entered their first year of college.
