The Rhode Island Amateur will conclude on Friday with a 36-hole match between Mike Hamilton and Kevin Blaser.

Mike Hamilton vs Kevin Blaser

Mike Hamilton won the third hole.

Blaser evens the match on the 7th hole, Hamilton goes back up one on 9.

Back and forth we go. The match is tied through 10.

Blaser goes 1 up through 15 holes. Hamilton’s second shot on 15 went over the green. He couldn’t believe it.

Blaser birdies the par 5 16th hole to go 2up. His putt lipped in.

A generous good-good on 17, Hamilton ran his putt well outside of the circle of friendship. Blaser still 2-up.

Blaser is 2-up after the first 18.

Play resumes at noon.

Second 18

Hamilton birdies the first hole and Blaser pats after almost driving the green. 1-up lead for Blaser.

Another birdie for Hamilton and the match is tied.

Both hit poor second shots on 3, Blaser steals a win though.

Blaser with a great second shot, almost a tap in birdie. Wayward drive for Hamilton and it costs him. Blaser 2 up.

Another birdie for Hamilton on the short par 3. Back to 1 down.

Blaser puts his tee shot in the trees, takes a penalty stroke. Hamilton wins the hole and we are back to even.

Crazy few holes.

Blaser goes 1 up through 25 holes with a nice birdie putt.

Hamilton birdies 9 to tie the match.

Blaser goes 1 up on 10. Hamilton’s putt to tie lips out.

Blaser goes back to two up on 12. He has been two up most of the day but Hamilton has kept responding. We will see if he does it again.

Incredible shot by Blaser on 13 to gimme birdie range. Hamilton’s putt misses and Blaser goes 3-up.

Hamilton gets one back, now 2 down.

Hamilton 1 down now. 3 to go.

Hamilton makes a bomb on 17 to tie the match. Amazing.

Blaser wins the RI Amateur on 18 after Hamilton puts his tee shot in the trees.
