Several Rhode Islanders Competing at New England Junior Open
While most of the focus of the Rhode Island golf world this week has been on the state amateur, there is another big golf tournament going on for juniors down at Ledgemont.
The New England Junior Open.
While there are not many Rhode Islanders in the field, there are a few.
On the boys side, Portsmouth’s Mark Roberts leads the way in a tie for fourth place through 36 holes at seven over par.
Barrington’s Ryan Ricci and La Salle’s Joseph Earley are in 26th at 13-over par, and Portsmouth’s Matt Siegal is in 36tth.
Fresh off of missing the cut at the Amateur, Joey Iaciofano is in 53rd and Leonard Nolan is in 51st.
There is only one Rhode Island girl playing in the tournament and that is Barrington’s Claire Mctaggart, who is in 11th out of 11 players.
Thursday is the final day of the tournament.
