Brad Valois Takes Medalist Honors, Top Seed at RI Amateur

Battling brutal wind conditions and fast greens, Brad Valois dominated the field to earn medalist honors at the Rhode Island Amateur at Wanumetonomy.

Valois posted a two round score of eight-under par to win the stroke play portion by five shots over former Moses Brown star Harry Dessel.

“Pretty psyched I guess. Someone just told me that was the first time i’ve ever done it by myself, not going to put too much thought into it but i’m pretty excited with how I played the last two days,” Valois told GolfNewsRI after the round.

He will be the number one seed heading into the match play portion of the tournament.

“I just got to play my own game, focus, concentrate on my game and hopefully that will be goo enough,” Valoois added.

Overall, the top 32 players made the cut, with the cut line falling at 11-over par.

Players such as Max Jackson and Dessel both made the cut and will be tough outs once match play begins.

There is a playoff for the final spots which is scheduled to start soon.
