O’Leary Misses Cut at North & South Amateur

After a first round 68, Andrew O’Leary posted a second round 77 to miss the match play cut at this week’s North & South Amateur at Pinehurst.

The 77 came one round after a crazy round of 68 in which O’Leary made a nine and then followed up with a hole-in-one two holes later.

O’Leary also missed the cut at last week’s Northeast Amateur.

O’Leary’s Rough Back 9

For most of the second round, O’Leary was in great shape even pulling into a tie for 10th place at one point early on.

Despite two front nine bogeys, O’Leary made three birdies and turned at one-under par for the day.

However, the back nine was a disaster.

O’Leary bogeyed the first three holes, then looked like he had steadied the ship with pars on the 13th and 14th holes.

The former RI Amateur champ then doubled two of the final four holes, and bogeyed another to slide down the leaderboard and finish the two rounds at five-over.

The cut was even par.
