MA’s Thorbjornsen Finishes 4th at Travelers, Schauffele Wins it
Massachusetts native and top amateur Michael Thorbjornsen finished in solo fourth place at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands on Sunday afternoon.
Thorbjornsen finished with a four-round score of 15-under par, four shots back of winner Xander Schauffele.
As GolfNewsRI reported from the U.S. Open, Thorbjornsen skipped the Northeast Amateur to play on a sponsors exemption for the Travelers.
Looks like it was a good decision.
For Schauffele, this is his sixth career PGA Tour win and he did it by beating his friend Patrick Cantlay, who completely fell apart in the final round.
Sahith Theegala held the lead briefly coming down the stretch, but got a bad break in the bunker and ended up making double-bogey.
