Welch, Chatfield, Francoeur Lead Local 7 at Northeast Amateur

Round one of the Northeast Amateur is in the books.
Defending champion Dylan Menante, now a North Carolina Tar Heel, leads the way with an opening round 62 (7-under).
He teed off in the morning where scoring conditions were slightly better.
Leading the Local 7
Davis Chatfield, Patrick Welch and Chris Francoeur lead the local seven after the opening 18, each with a score of one-over par.
Francoeur went off in the morning and was two-over through 12 holes before making a birdie coming in.
Welch and Chatfield had to deal with tougher scoring conditions in the afternoon as the wind picked up.
Chatfield was two-over through nine holes, but birdied the par-5 17th hole coming in to get it to one-over on the round.

Welch got off to a great start, he was three-under through his first five holes.
However, on the 18th (his ninth) he got into trouble off the tee and ended up making a double-bogey to turn at 1-under.
With no help from the wind, he would pick up a few more bogeys on the front side and close at one-over par.
