Northeast Amateur Local 7 LIVE Blog – Round 1

In an effort to better cover the nine local players teeing it up in the Northeast Amateur, GolfNewsRI will be running a live blog to track the players you want to read about. 

There will be a new blog for every round and it will be updated constantly throughout the day, with pictures, updates and more.

Tee 1 

9:03 a.m. Chris Francoeur 

Francoeur is one-over through three holes after a bogey on famed par-3 third hole.

Boom! Francoeur drops a birdie putt on the fifth hole and gets it back to even par for the tournament.

Francoeur is 2-over through 12 holes.

He finishes one over for the day.

1 p.m. Andrew O’Leary 

O’Leary makes bogey on the third hole. He is 1-over.

He is three over through 12. He bogeyed 3 and 4, birdied 5 and then bogeyed 7 and 11.

O’Leary finishes at 4-over par for the tournament.

1:09 p.m. Davis Chatfield 

Chatfield makes bogey on 2 after putting tee shot in trees on the right. He is 1-over.

Davis Chatfield tees off.

Chatfield is 2-over through 9. He bogeyed nine after putting his tee shot in the right rough.

The Wannamoisett member birdies the 17th hole to finish at 1-over for the day.

1:54 p.m. Billy Forcier 

The Wannamoisett club champ is even through 3.

Forcier is two over through 6.

He makes double on the ninth hole and turns at four-over for the tournament.

Tee 10 

8:18 a.m. Bobby Leopold 

The RI Amateur Champ is two over through six with a double-bogey on the 12th hole.

Leopold makes the turn, he remains two-over through nine.

He is 4-over through 15.

Leopold finished at 4-over.

12:42 p.m. Patrick Welch 

Welch birdies 11 and is one-under through three holes.

Welch birdies 13 and 14, he is now 3-under for the tournament.

Tough way to close out the first nine. Welch doubles 18 to turn at 1-under.

Conditions are getting tough with the wind. Welch bogeys the first and third holes and is now one-over par on the round.

Welch finishes at one-over par with a birdie on seven and a bogey on nine.

1:54 p.m. Joe Tucker

Tucker is one over through 6 with a bogey on 12. He was not happy with his tee shot there. Tees are not all the way back today.

Though nine holes, the defending RI Stroke Play champion is three over.
