Welch Shoots 63, Just 3 Shots Off Lead Entering Final Round NCAA Championship
Patrick Welch fired a third round 63 (7-under) in the NCAA Championship and now sits just three shots off lead entering Monday’s final round of the individual portion of the championship.
Welch was in a tie for 101st after round one, but has since climbed all the way back and now has a real chance to win an NCAA Individual Title.
The former Classical star is one-under for the tournament, three back of Vanderbilt’s Gordon Sargent, who leads the way at four-under.

Meanwhile, Welch’s Oklahoma Sooners are one-under overall and are well inside the 54-hole team cut and the match play cut, which happens after tomorrow’s round.
Welch’s Third Round
Starting on the first hole, Welch made birdie on the second and fourth holes to get to two-under par quickly.
After a couple of pars in a row, Welch closed the front nine with birdies on the eighth and ninth holes to turn at 31.
On the back side, Welch birdied the tenth hole, then dropped two more birdies on 14 and 15.
He parred out to shoot a seven-under 63.
