Patrick Welch, Oklahoma Advance to NCAA Championship
Patrick Welch and the Oklahoma Sooners are on to the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk after winning the NCAA Norman Region on their home course on Wednesday afternoon.
The Sooners finished with a team score of 26-under par to win the region. They were 12-under in the final round.
Oklahoma will seek to get back to the championship match for the third straight year.
Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas and Utah are the other four teams that advanced.
Louisville, Notre Dame Falls Short
Meanwhile, the season is over for former URI star Chris Francoeur and his Louisville Cardinals as they failed to make the cut.
The season also ends for Davis Chatfield, Andrew O’Leary and the University of Notre Dame as they missed the cut in the Florida region.
