Vinny Papa Tied 12th After Round 1 of AJGA Debut
Battling extremely windy conditions in upstate New York, Rhode Island’s Vinny Papa is in a tie for 12th place after the first round of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Preview Tournament in Webster, NY.
This is her first AJGA event.
Papa is 12-over for the tournament and eight shots out of first place with one round left to play.
Canada’s Angela Cai has the lead at four-over.
Papa tees off for round two at 8:10 a.m.
Papa’s 1st Round
After opening with four straight pars, Papa made double-bogey on the par-3 fifth hole, followed by a bogey and another double on the eighth and ninth holes to turn at 41.
On the back side, Papa opened with a bogey on ten, but bounced right back with a birdie on the 12th hole.
Her only birdie of the day.
She then went double, bogey, double, bogey bogey to close the round and shoot 84.
