Rhode Islanders Miss Cut at Foxborough U.S. Open Qualifier
The first U.S. Open Qualifier is in the books as play has wrapped up at Foxborough Country Club in Massachusetts.
The few Rhode Islanders that were taking part in the tournament all missed the cut.
The cut for the top six players was even par and Wanumetonomy’s Nick Jagoe missed it by two shots, finishing at two-over.
University of Rhode Island commit Aidan O’Donovan finished at five-over, beating out former Rhode Island Amateur champ Kevin Silva by one shot.
Point Judith’s Brendon Ray finished at seven over par for the tournament.
The six players who made the cut include Cooper Griffin, who finished at two-under to win the qualifier.
Behind him was Sean Fitzpatrick at one-under and then a slew of players finished at even.
Those players are Kevin Gately, Jake Shuman, Mark Purrington and Ben Spitz.
