Former RI Amateur Champ Kevin Silva Playing in U.S. Open Qualifier at Foxborough CC

Former Rhode Island Amateur champ Kevin Silva is attempting to qualify for the U.S. Open on Monday at Foxborough Country Club in Massachusetts. 

Silva actually made it to the U.S. Open in both 2008 and 2009, but missed the cut both times. 

In this year’s local qualifier, Silva tees off at 8:47 a.m. with Andy Morse and John Woodman.

The top six players, plus two alternates will advance to final qualifying.

Silva won the 2005 Rhode Island Amateur and took medalist honors at the 2021 RI Amateur at Kirkbrae Country Club. 

Other RIers in Field 

Other Rhode Islanders that are in the field include Wanumetonomy assistant pro Nick Jagoe, who tees off at 7:30 a.m. 

Point Judith Country Club pro Brendon Ray and University of Rhode Island commit Aidan O’Donovan. 

Ray tees off at 8:14 a.m., while O’Donovan tees off at 12:16 p.m. 

There is a U.S. Open qualifier on May 10 at Kirkbrae Country Club.
