Louisville, Notre Dame Miss Match Play Cut at ACC Championship
In a bit of a shocking turn of events, both Louisville (Chris Francoeur) and Notre Dame (Davis Chatfield, Andrew O’Leary) have missed the match play cut at the ACC Championship at Shark’’s Tooth Golf Course in Florida this week.
Both teams will now await their NCAA Tournament futures when the brackets are announced on May 4 at 4 p.m.
On paper, both teams should feel good about getting in, especially Notre Dame, though missing the cut at the ACC Championship certainly makes things a little more interesting.
After scores of 69 and 74 in the first two rounds, Chris Francoeur made six birdies, but tow double bogeys in the final round to post 71.
He finishing in a tie for 22nd overall.
Chatfield & O’Leary
Davis Chatfield was one of two players keeping the Irish alive in this tournament.
The other player was Palmer Jackson.
After posting an even par 36 on the front nine in the final round, Chatfield rattled off four birdies on the back nine to shoot 68 and finish in a tie for 10th.
2019 RI Amateur champion Andrew O’Leary finished in a tie for 37th after rounds of 75, 71 and a final round 73.
