5 RI Golf Pros Finish in Top 10 at NEPGA Stroke Play Series at Newport National

Battling brutal conditions at Newport National, five Rhode Island Golf pros finished in the top ten at the NEPGA’s first Stroke Play Series event of the season. 

A few other RI pros finished inside the top 20. 

Red Tail Golf Club’s Sean Duong won the tournament at one-over par.

Rhode Island Contingent

Leading the Rhode Island contingent was Wanumetonomy’s Bill Maguire, who finished in third at three-over par. 

He was followed by Golf Galaxy’s Arthur Wilson at five-over along with Wanu’s Nick Jagoe. 

Aquidneck Club’s Ed Kirby took eighth in the tournament at six-over par and Aquidneck Club’s Matthew Hillier finished tenth.

Finishing just outside the top ten was Agawam Hunt’s Louis Rivers, who took 13th and North Kingstown’s Brian Owens who finished in a tie for 18th. 

Button Hole’s Shane Drury posted an 11-over 78 to finish in a tie for 23rd. 

The other Rhode Island pros in the tournament include Mason Talley of Alpine, and John Rainone of North Kingstown. 

They finished in 39th and 51st respectively.
