Welch Bounces Back, Oklahoma Rallies to Win Thunderbird Collegiate
After a second round 76, Rhode Island’s Patrick Welch bounced back with a bogey-free three-under 68 in the final round of the Thunderbird Collegiate.
Meanwhile, Welch’s Oklahoma Sooners rallied from a few shots down to win the tournament with a score of 31-under par.
This is a school record fifth tournament title this season.
The Sooners now get set for the Big 12 Stroke Play Championship starting on April 25.
Welch’s Final Round
Starting on the first hole, Welch birdied the second hole, then dropped another birdie on the seventh hole to turn at two-under.
On the back side, Welch birdied the 12th hole and parred out to post 68.
In the final round, Welch climbed 16 spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 53rd with several other players.
