URI Finishes 5th at Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational

The University of Rhode Island golf team shot 8-over in the final round of the Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational and finished fifth in the tournament.

The Rams entered the final round just one shot off the lead, and well ahead of the third place team.

“Conditions were terrific, and the course could have not played easier. We did not take advantage,” said head coach Gregg Burke after the round.

He added, “We had a difficult week as a program coming into this tournament and it showed. We will regroup. Time to work.”

Iona and Lafayette tied for first place with a two-round score of 580.

The Rams return to action on April 29 for the start of the A-10 Championship.
