Welch Finishes 16th, Oklahoma 4th at N.I.T Tournament

Rhode Island’s Patrick Welch finished in a tie for 16th at the N.I.T Tournament on at OMNI Tucson National, while number one ranked Oklahoma finished fourth. 

Entering the day in 12th, Welch posted a final round 72 to drop four spots down the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 16th with teammate Logan McAllister, Texas’ Parker Coody and Tennessee’s Spencer Cross.

As a team, Oklahoma was 27-under par and finished fourth behind first place Oklahoma State, second place Texas and third place Pepperdine.

Welch’s Final Round

Welch opened the round with a birdie on the second hole, but doubled the fifth hole to give it right back and one. 

The former Classical star then birdied the sixth hole, bogeyed the seventh hole and birdied the ninth hole to turn at 36. 

Welch got off to a hot start on the back nine, birding the 10th and 11th holes before making four straight pars. 

However, the end of the round was a bit of a rollercoaster. 

Welch doubled the 16th hole, bogeyed the 17th hole and closed with a birdie on the 18th hole to shoot 72.
