URI Golf Wins Carpetbagger Classic

The University of Rhode Island men’s golf team won the Carpetbagger classic on Sunday afternoon at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Maryland.
The Rams finished seven over for the tournament to beat Robert Morris, Towson and in-state rival Bryant by more than ten shots.

URI’s Brandon Gillis co-won the individual championship, sharing it with Fairleigh Dickinson’s Jaime Julve.
This is URI’s first win of the spring season in just their second event.
Bryant finished in a tie for 3rd, their best showing of the spring season.
Leading URI
As mentioned above, Rhody was led by Brandon Gillis who posted rounds of 69 and 74 to co-win the individual title.
Jack Tegan finished in a tie for 12th at six-over par, while Jordan Brajcich finished in a tie for 21st.
Leading Bryant
The Bulldogs were led by Tyler Hahn, who finished six over for the tournament and in a tie for 12th.
Jack Woods finished in a tie for 16th and Nick Piersall finished in a tie for 17th.
