Chatfield Tied 2nd After Opening Round of Schenkel Invitational

Davis Chatfield is tied for second and just one shot back after the opening round of the Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club in Georgia.
Chatfield carded a five-under 67 in his opening round and trails only Kieron van Wyk of the College of Charleston.

Fellow Rhode Islander Andrew O’Leary is tied for 41st at one-over par.
On the team side, Notre Dame is tied for second at five-under par while Georgia Southern leads at 15-under.
A Hot Start for Davis
Chatfield got off to a really special start on the opening nine holes.
Starting on one, he birdied the second hole, dropped another birdie on the fifth hole and then ripped off three straight birdies on holes seven, eight and nine to turn at 31.
On the back side, Chatfield bogeyed the 11th hole, but then ripped off three birdies on holes 12, 13, and 15.
However, he closed the day with back-to-back bogeys to shoot 67.
