Play Suspended at The Players, Monday Finish Expected

Play has been suspended for the day due to heavy rain at the Players Championship at PC Sawgrass.

Due to more heavy rain, play is not expected to resume until at least 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, meaning that a Monday finish is expected, almost inevitable.

Tommy Fleetwood still leads the tournament at six-under par along with Tom Hoge and Brice Garnett.

Neither Fleetwood or Hoge got on the course Friday and Garnett played four holes.

Story will be updated…

Monday Finishes

In its 48-year history, there have been seven Monday finishes at The Players.

The most recent one came in 2005.

There has never been a Tuesday finish at The Players, but there has been a couple on the PGA Tour before, the 2013 Sentry Tournament of Champions and the 2006 Booz Allen Classic.

Officials believe that they will be able to avoid a Tuesday finish.
