O’Leary, Chatfield Inside Top 20 After Day 1 of Lamkin Grips SD Classic

Andrew O’Leary and Davis Chatfield are both inside the top 20 after rat first day of the Lamkin Grips SD Classic on Monday at San Diego Country Club in California. 

O’Leary is six-under after two rounds and in a tie for sixth place, while Chatfield is tied for 18th after the first two rounds at three-under par. 

As a team, Notre Dame is in solo second place at 21-under par, well behind first place LSU. 

All tee times are at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

O’Leary’s Day 

Starting his first round on the third hole, O’Leary birdied the fifth and sixth holes and parred out. 

On the back side, O’Leary bogeyed the 12th hole, and then birdied the 14th and 15th holes, along with the 17th hole before bogeying 18 to turn at 35. 

He closed the first round by birding the first and second hole to post 67. 

In the second 18, starting on three again, the 2019 RI Amateur champ bogeyed the fourth hole, before dropping birdie putts at seven and eight, followed by another bogey at nine. 

On the backside, O’Leary parred the entire nine holes, except for a birdie on the 17th hole to turn at on-under. 

Back on the front side, he parred the first two holes to shoot 71. 

Chatfield’s Day 

In the opening round of the tournament, Chatfield birdied the third hold and parred out the rest of the way to turn at 35. 

On the back side, the former RI Amateur champ bobbed the 10th and 13th holes before bouncing back with birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. 

Davis Chatfield

He closed the opening round with a bogey on 18 to post 72. 

In the second 18, Chatfield opened with a birdie on the first hole, a bogey on the sixth hole and another birdie on the ninth hole to turn at 35. 

On the back side, Chatfield birdied the 14th and 16th holes to shoot a final round 69.
