BREAKING: Welch Wins Southern Highlands Collegiate, Earns PGA Tour Start

Rhode Island’s Patrick Welch won the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Tuesday in Las Vegas.
The win earns Welch his first ever PGA Tour start in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in October.

Welch posted a three-round score of 14-under par to win by three shots over a slew of players at 11-under.
This is Welch’s second career collegiate win.
On the team side of things, the #1 Oklahoma Sooners won the tournament with a team score of 38-under par.
The Sooners have won both of their spring tournaments so far this season.
Welch’s Final Round
Entering the final round with a share of the lead, Welch took sole possession of the lead with a birdie on the first hole.
He then began to stretch his lead out.
Welch birdied the third hole, seventh hole and eighth hole to turn at 4-under 32.
On the back side, Welch birdied the 14th hole and parred the rest of the way.
He maintained at least a two shot lead for the majority of the final round.
