Tour’s American Express Tournament Drops Mickelson as Host

The train wreck that has become the situation regarding Phil Mickelson continues to get worse seemingly everyday.
On Saturday, the PGA Tour announced that Mickelson will no longer serve as host of the American Express Tournament held in California, according to the Desert Sun.
Also, the Mickelson Foundation will no longer be the charitable arm.

According to the Sun, the Tour declined to give any specific comment on the situation, but did confirm the news.
Mickelson has served as host since 2020, and his Foundation was under contract through 2024.

The American Express Tournament dropping Mickelson is just the latest in what has become a week long – or so saga of one of golfs greatest players self destructing.
After Mickelson issued an apology to the Saudis this past Tuesday, he was subsequently dropped by his corporate sponsor KPMG within minutes.
The following day, Wednesday, he was dropped by Heineken/Amstel and on Friday, Callaway paused the relationship.
Mickelson had been with Callaway since 2004.
Now the American Express Tournament has dropped him.
