Dickson Just One Shot Back After First Round of Daytona Open

Rhode Island’s Will Dickson is in a tie for 2nd place and just one shot out of the lead after round one of the G-Pro Tour’s Daytona open down in Florida.
Dickson made four birdies and an eagle in the first round.
“I just had to stay patient out there. The course is pretty easy. What makes it tough is small greens and some wind. But overall, the scores are going to be low. Lots of wedges,” Dickson told GolfNewsRI after the round.

He added, “Just hard not to try and force it when you know you have to make birdies.”
Dickson’s second round of the three round tournament gets underway on Wednesday.
Dickson’s Opening Round
After opening with a bogey on the first hole, Dickson bounced right back with a birdie on the second hole and another birdies on the fifth hole to get to one-under on the day.
The former Moses Brown star closed the first nine with a birdie on the ninth hole to turn in 34.
On the back side, Dickson saved par on the first four holes, before birding the 14th hole to get to three-under.
Dickson then eagled the par-5 16th to finish at five under for the day, one shot back of the lead.
