Chatfield Finishes 9th, Francoeur 16th at Watersound Invitational

After a bit of a rough second round, Davis Chatfield and Chris Francoeur both rebounded in the final round of the Watersound Invitational on Tuesday at Shark’s Tooth Golf Course in Florida. 

Chatfield posted a final round 70 to climb nine spots and finish in a tie for ninth overall, while Francoeur posted a final round 71 to climb seven spots and finish in a tie for 16th.

Chatfield’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish finished in third place in the tournament, while Francoeur’s Louisville Cardinals finished ninth. 

Rhode Island’s Andrew O’Leary finished in 41st, moving up 15 spots in the final round.

Chatfield’s Final Round 

Starting one one, Chatfield made par on every hole through the front nine to turn at an even par 36. 

Making the turn, Chatfield birdied the tenth hole, made seven straight pars and birdied the 18th hole to shoot a two-under 70. 

Francoeur’s Final Round 

Francoeur started on the tenth hole and bogeyed it to open his final round. 

The former URI star went on to make eagle on the par-5 13th hole and bogey on the 14th. 

He closed his fist nine with a birdie on the 16th hole to turn at one-under. 

On his second nine, Francoeur bogeyed the third hole and birdied the sixth hole to shoot 71.
