Chatfield, Francoeur Tied 14th After 1st Round of Watersound Invitational
Former Rhode Island Amateur champ Davis Chatfield and former University of Rhod Island star Chris Francoeur are in a tie for 14th after round one of the Watersound Invitational at Shark’s Tooth Golf Course in Florida.
Chatfield and Francoeur both posted first round 72s to tie for 14th with a few other players.
2019 RI Amateur champ Andrew O’Leary is in 71st.
Meanwhile, Francoeur’s Louisville Cardinals are in sixth place overall, while Chatfield’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish are in 13th.
Chatfield’s 1st Round
Starting on the tenth hole, Chatfield bogeyed the 13th, before bouncing back with a birdie on the 16th hole.
He closed the first nine with a bogey on the 18th hole to turn at 37.
On his second nine, Chatfield made birdie on the fourth hole and parred out the rest of the way to shoot 72.
Francoeur’s 1st Round
Like Chatfield, Francoeur started on the tenth hole in the first round.
The former URI star birdied the 12th hole, but doubled the 14th and bogeyed the 15th to go over par for the round.
Francoeur bounced back with a birdie on the 16th hole, before bogeying the 18th to turn at 38.
On the front side, Francoeur bounced back.
He birdied the par-5 third hole, and bogeyed the fourth hole.
He then birdied the sixth and eight holes to shoot 34 on the front and 72 overall.
