Scheffler Beats Cantlay in 3-Hole Playoff to Win WM Phoenix Open

Scottie Scheffler edged Patrick Cantlay in a three-hole playoff to win the WM Phoenix Open on Sunday afternoon in Scottsdale, Arizona. 

Scheffler dropped a 25-foot birdie putt on the final playoff hole, while Cantlay missed an 11-foot birdie putt to tie. 

The win was Scheffler’s first of his PGA Tour career and it came in his 71st start.

Playoff Time 

Playing the 18th hole over and over… and over again, Scheffler and Cantlay matched pars the first two times around. 

Though both came close to chipping in for birdies. 

On the third time around, Scheffler put his tee shot in the right bunker, while Cantlay was in the middle of the fairway. 

Scheffler drained his long birdie putt, while Cantlay missed his.
