Bob Harig Leaves ESPN for Sports Illustrated

Longtime golf writer Bob Harig has left his job at ESPN and signed on with Sports Illustrated. 

“Weird after all this time, but basically doing a lot of the same thing,” Harig told GolfNewsRI.

Harig joined the Golf Dudes Podcast back in December to discuss his new book “Tiger & Phil.”

Bob Harig is a golf writer for SI.com/Morning Read and has previously covered the game for ESPN and the Tampa Bay Times. 

He holds degrees in journalism and history from Indiana University, where he was a proud Evans Scholar. 

He recently wrote a book called Tiger & Phil: Golf’s Most Fascinating Rivalry, which will be available in April. 

A past president and active member of the Golf Writers Association of America, Harig lives in Florida.

  • Bob I just finished the article on Jim ” Bones ” Mackay, thanks for giving us a peak at the life from the ” Second Player ” attempting to win. I loved the part where Synovus Bank offered him a position and the CEO still ask’s him years later when he is coming to work. I don’t golf very well but enjoy watching it on TV. For Mr. Mackay to leave a guaranteed salary to do what he love’s is confidence at its best. I wish him well and I will be watching for future articles from you.
