Francoeur in 13th, Louisville 7th After Day 1 of Sea Best Invitational

In one of the first collegiate golf tournaments of the spring season, former URI star Chris Francoeur finished day one in a tie for 13th at the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.
Francoeur posted back-to-back rounds of 71 to finish in a tie for 13th with five other players.
The good news is, he is only four shots out of the lead, heading into the final round.

Meanwhile, the Louisville Cardinals are in seventh place after the first day with a team score of 16-over par.
College of Charleston leads the way at seven-over par.
Francoeur’s 1st 18
Francoeur got off to a good start, birding the fourth hole to move to one-under on the day.
He then bogeyed the seventh and eighth holes to turn at 1-over 36.
On the back side, Francoeur bogeyed the 13th and 15th holes, before birding 16 and closing with a birdie on 18 to shoot 71.

Starting the second 18 in the afternoon, Franoceur birdied the first hole, bogeyed the third hole and birdied the fifth hole to turn at 1-under par.
Things were a bit more of a roller coaster on the second nine, however.
The former URI star bogeyed 11th hole, doubled the 12th hole before regaining some ground with birdies on the 14th and 16th holes.
He closed the day by bogeying the 17th to post 71.
