Quinnatisset’s Sozek Elected 81st President of RIGA

Quinnatisset Country Club’s Peter Sozek has been elected as the 81st President of the Rhode Island Golf Association (RIGA), the organization announced on Wednesday.

Quinnatisset is located in Connecticut. Sozek is the first ever member of a Connecticut club to be elected President of RIGA.

According to RIGA, Quinnatisset was added as a RIGA member club in 2014. There is a clause in the RIGA bylaws that allows clubs within three miles of the Rhode Island border to join.

“I’ve met so many great people the last 20 years at the RIGA. It will be a honor to serve this great association as president. I am excited to keep growing the game in our area,” said Sozek in a statement.

Sozek, 70, served as the first Vice President during the 2021 season.

He has been on the RIGA board for the last 20 years, mostly as a representative of the now demolished Metacomet Golf Club.
