Metacomet Greens Being Ripped Up, Sold to Brae Burn Country Club

The next phase of destruction at Metacomet has begun.
The greens on the back nine are beginning to be ripped up and have been sold to Brae Burn Country Club in Massachusetts – another Donald Ross course.
A pro shop attendant at Brae Burn confirmed that to GolfNewsRI Saturday morning.
As GolfNewsRI photos show, the tenth green is no longer there and is now dirt, as well as, possibly the 11th and 12th greens.

One of the greens shown is in the early stages of being ripped up.
“They can legally tear up the greens. They don’t need permits,” said Keep Metacomet Green Admin Lynn Miller.
GolfNewsRI would like to note that there may be other greens gone as well, these were the only obvious ones we could see from the Parkway and Lyon Ave.
The front nine greens are being kept and appear to still be in great shape.
