Golf Channel Loses Early Round Coverage of U.S. & British Opens
Starting in 2022, Golf Channel will no longer be showing early round coverage of the U.S. and British Opens (both men’s and women’s).
Instead, early round coverage will move to USA Network, as well as, lead in coverage on the weekend.
Both of those things previously aired on Golf Channel.
“We are excited to transition the cable coverage of many of our premium sports events to USA Network, Peacock, and other widely-distributed NBCUniversal platforms, which will give us a significant boost in television homes and will put us in an even stronger position as we grow our business,” said Pete Bevacqua, Chairman, NBC Sports in a press release.
Additional coverage will air on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports App.
Golf Channel will continue to have early round coverage of PGA Tour events.
This comes as NBC Sports Network begins to fade away at the end of 2021.
Other sports that will be impacted are Premier League soccer, Nascar, and Olympic sports.
