Welch Not at East Lake, Oklahoma Advances to Final
Rhode Island’s Patrick Welch did not make the trip to East Lake with Oklahoma this week.
Welch reached out to GolfNewsRI on Twitter after we inquired about his absence from the tournament.
“I’m not at East Lake,” he said in a short statement.
For Welch, he will now look ahead to the Spring season and the quest to help Oklahoma win a National Championship.
For Oklahoma, they will get set to battle rival Oklahoma State in Wednesday’s East Lake Cup Final.
The two teams have battled throughout the fall season, with Oklahoma recently beating OSU in the bronze medal match of the Big 12 Match Play Championship.
OSU defeated Arizona State in the semi-finals on Tuesday to advance, while the Sooners defeated defending National Champion Pepperdine to get to the final.
Despite Welch not being there, the final match between two rivals should be a fascinating watch.
