Francoeur Tied for 18th at Williams Cup, Louisville Tied 5th

Former URI star Chris Francoeur is in a tie for 18th after the first day of the Williams Cup at Eagle Point Golf Club in North Carolina.
Francoeur posted a 36-hole score of 145 (74-71) to tie for 18th with Vanderbilt’s Michael Shears.
Meanwhile, Francoeur’s Louisville Cardinals are in fifth place in the ten team tournament, 14 shots behind first place North Carolina.

The final day of the tournament is Tuesday.
It is also the final day of Louisville’s fall season.
Francoeur’s Day
In the first 18 holes, Francoeur opened up on the 15th hole with a double-bogey, and then bogeyed 18 to turn for the first time at three-over.
On the front side, Francoeur birdied the third hole, and then followed up with back-to-back bogeys on the fourth and fifth holes to turn at one-over.
Making the turn for the second time, Francoeur birdied the 10th and 12th holes, and parred the next two to finish two-over for the day.
On the second 18, Francoeur again opened up on the 15th hole, but got off to a better start.
He made par this time as opposed to a double.
Francoeur then birdied the 16th and 17th holes, before bogeying 18.
Making the turn, francoeur made all pars except for a lone bogey on the 8th hole.
Going back to the back side, Francoeur birdied 12 to shoot one-under for the day.
