Florio Tied 5th After Round 1 of St. John’s Invitational
Cranston native Alexis Florio is tied for fifth after round one of the St. John’s Invitational at St. Andrews Golf Club in New York.
Florio fired a first round 73 to finish two-over for the day and four shots back of the lead, currently held by Time Uchida of Quinnipiac.
Alison Paik is in 40th after the first round.
Meanwhile, Columbia is in third pace after round one, 17 shots back of first place Quinnipiac.
This is Columbia’s last tournament of the fall season.
Things did not start our great for Florio as she opened with a double-bogey six on the first hole.
She then bogeyed the third and fifth holes to get to four-over right off the jump.
Back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes would get her back to two over, before another bogey on the 8th hole would proper her back.
Florio made the turn at three-over.
On the back side, Florio birdied the 12th hole and parred in the rest of the way to finish two over for the day.
