Chatfield Notches Top 10 Finish, Notre Dame Takes 2nd at Fighting Irish Classic

Davis Chatfield finished inside the top ten, while his Notre Dame Fighting Irish took second place at the Fighting Irish Classic this week at Warren Golf Course in Indiana. 

Chatfield posted a final round 70 to finish in a tie for 8th with teammate Patrick Kelly.

As a team, the Irish finished at 12-under par (828), three shots behind first place Washington. 

Andrew O’Leary finished in a tie for 28th for the tournament.

Chatfield’s Final Round 

Chatfield played the front nine at even par, making two bogeys and two birdies to post 35. 

Upon making the turn, Chatfield bogeyed ten, and birdied 12 before making three straight pars. 

The 2016 RI Amateur champ bogeyed 16 and birdied 17 to shoot an even par 70. 

O’Leary’s Final Round 

O’Leary birdied the fourth hole and posted a one-under 34 on the front nine holes. 

Making the turn, he birdied the 10th hole, but gave it right back on the 11th hole with a bogey. 

O’Leary gave another one back on the 16th hole to finish even for the day. 

Next Up for Irish 

The Irish return to action on October 18 with the Stephens Cup. 

It is their final tournament of the fall season.
