Patrick Welch drilled a birdie putt on the 18th hole at the Maridoe Collegiate to put the Oklahoma Sooners in a tie for the lead with Texas.
After a Longhorns bogey down the stretch, transfer Chris Gotterup tapped in for par on the 18th to seal the Sooners victory at the Maridoe Collegiate.

Welch’s birdie ended up being the winning score – 3-under.
“Huge birdies from our three seniors in McAllister, Gotterup and Welch, then the birdie on No. 15 from a freshman in Goodman – that was what helped us to this win,” said head coach Ryan Hyan Hybl after the round.
The win is Oklahoma’s 44th all-time and the 30th of the Ryan Hybl era, which started in 2009.
The seventh-ranked Sooners’ 17-win stretch since the 2016-17 season marks the most successful run in program history.
Welch Finishes T12
Individually, Welch finished in a tie for 11th for the tournament.
The former Classical star opened with a bogey on the first hole, before bouncing back with a birdie on the fourth hole.
Welch double-bogeyed the fifth hole to push him to two over par for the day.
Once again, he bounced back, this time with an eagle at the par-5 7th hole to make the turn at even par.
Making the turn, Welch went birdie-bogey on the 11th and 12th holes and saved pars all the way to the 18th hole.
There, he knocked down his clutch birdie putt to help Oklahoma to the win.
Next up for Oklahoma
The Sooners now shift their focus to the Nike Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, slated for Oct. 4-5.
