Chatfield Finishes T13, Notre Dame Ties for 1st with Kansas
Davis Chatfield fired a four-under par 67 in the final round to finish in a tie for 13th at the Gopher Invitational at Winding Farm Golf Club in Minnesota.
Meanwhile, Chatfield’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish rallied to finish the tournament in a tie for first place with Kansas.
As a team, Notre Dame fired a 9-under par 275 in the final round to climb the leaderboard and share the tournament victory.
Andrew O’Leary finished in a tie for 25th.
Chatfield Rallies Notre Dame
Chatfield opened the final round with three straight birdies before a bogey on the fourth hole set him back to two-under for the day.
The 2016 RI Amateur Champion closed the front nine with a birdie on the ninth hole to fire a 32 on the front nine.
Making the turn, Chatfield doubled the 14th hole, but got it back quickly.
He closed with three straight birdies to shoot 67.
O’Leary’s 3rd Round
After a bogey on the second hole, O’Leary rallied with birdies on the third and fifth holes, before making a triple-bogey on the par-3 seventh hole.
O’Leary would then birdie the eighth hole, 12th and 13th holes to make up for the triple.
He closed with bogeys on the last two holes to fire a 72 on the day.
