U.S. Rally Falls Short, Europe Wins Solheim Cup

Team USA made a late rally in the Solheim Cup, but fell short as Europe wins again.

Europe won the Solheim Cup 14 1/2 to 11 Monday afternoon at Inverness in Ohio.

Europe Wins

This is the first time since 2013 that Europe won the Cup on American Soil.

It is also the first time Europe has won back-to-back Solheim Cups since 2011-2013.

U.S. Rally Falls Short

At one point on Monday, it was looking like the Solheim Cup was going to be over by about 4 p.m.

Starting the day leading by two, Europe jumped out to a 12 1/2 to 7 1/2 lead with still a good portion of blue on the board.

The United States then generated some late momentum starting with a match win by world #1 Nelly Korda.

Several other players got wins and halves before Matilda Castren ended it with a par putt on 18 that gave Europe the needed point.
