TPC Boston Taken Out of PGA Tour/FedEx Cup Playoffs Rotation

TPC Boston has been taken out of the PGA Tour/Fed Ex Cup playoffs rotation after being in there since the very beginning of the playoff format, according to the PGA Tour’s 2021-22 schedule released Tuesday.

Starting in 2022, the Northern Trust will be replaced by the FedEx St. Jude Championship which will be held in Memphis on a yearly basis, meaning no TPC Boston.

Over the last couple of years, the Northern Trust has rotated between Liberty National and TPC Boston.

When asked in a press conference about leaving the Boston area, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said “it’s a matter of when, not if they will be back.”

Monahan, who is a Massachusetts native, cited the U.S. Open coming to Brookline next year, however, it is reportedly already sold out.

The U.S. Senior Open is coming to Newport in 2024, but as of right now, that is all the professional golf New Englanders will be seeing in person for awhile.

It should be noted that New York is also not getting a regular PGA Tour event.

However, they host major championships every couple of years it seems.
