Morikawa won the 2017 Northeast Amateur at Wannamoisett Country Club.

This is his second major championship of his career.

How it Happened

Morikawa started the final round one shot back of Louis Oosthuizen, however bogeys by Oosthuizen and three straight birdies by Morikawa flipped the leaderboard.

The former UCLA star birdied seven, eight and nine to take control of the tournament.

With a three shot lead heading into the back nine, Morikawa made birdie one 14  and parred in the rest of the way to take home the trophy.
